Contrary to General Grievous, Trench kept a cool head in battle and bested his opponents through sheer tactical superiority. Trench was only defeated when Anakin decided to fly right toward Trench's ship to guide his own torpedoes toward the command bridge. The Clone Wars showed Trench catching onto the stealth ship's weak spot quite quickly, which would have permitted Trench to succeed in destroying the ship if it wasn't for Anakin's superior thinking. Trench's extensive war history prepared him for every possible attack, except for that of a prototype stealth ship led by Jedi Anakin Skywalker. Feared by many but respected by most, Trench wasn't simply a Separatist pawn, as he had a keen intuition whenever he was being misled. Even Admiral Yularen warned Anakin of Trench's remarkable knowledge and brilliant battlefield tactics. Under Trench's command, the Separatist flagship Invincible drove back the Galactic star destroyers. Commander Trench made his first appearance in The Clone Wars Season 2, Episode 16, ''Cat and Mouse,'' where he was seen overpowering Republic forces.
